The Tea
PortMiami calls itself the "Cruise Capital of the World," and honestly? It's earned it. Eight terminals, every major cruise line, and more embarkations than any other port on Earth. But here's what they don't put on the glossy website: the traffic getting there can turn a 20-minute trip into a 90-minute stress test, especially on turnaround days.
The port is right in downtown Miami, which sounds great until you realize that "right in downtown" means navigating construction zones, one-way streets, and the particular chaos of MacArthur Causeway on a Saturday morning with 40,000 other cruise passengers. Parking is the most expensive of any US cruise port — $22/day and up.
Here's what the cruise lines definitely won't tell you: the neighborhoods immediately surrounding the port are… let's just say they're not the pastel Art Deco fantasy from the brochure. Stick to the cruise terminal area and don't wander on foot.
