What Carnival Sunrise's Autumn Bahamas Season Is Actually Like
Autumn out of Miami is the Bahamas on easy mode. Sunrise's schedule is mostly short, repeatable loops, so the real question is which loop you're buying. Our database lists 4-night sailings (six of them) and 5-night sailings (seven of them) between now and Dec. 21, plus a single 6-night departure on Nov. 23. We have no port data for the 4- and 6-night sailings. The ports below for those come from a third-party timetable, so confirm them with Carnival before you book.
Weather and sea conditions
Hurricane season officially runs through Nov. 30, so late October and early November still carry a small chance of a port swap or reshuffled itinerary. Cruise-focused guides treat November as a decent compromise as the weather settles. Holland America's Bahamas weather guide puts average temperatures for September through November at 75–84°F, with rainfall tapering off by November. For winter, the same guide describes comfortable breezes and averages of 70–78°F, so a breezy, cooler day at sea is the likely December picture. A light layer is worth having.

What the ports are really worth
- Celebration Key: Ships dock at a pier, so there's no tender queue. Beach access, loungers and Carnival's Island Eats meal credit are covered. The adults-only Pearl Cove Beach Club starts at $99.99 per person, and cabanas, waterslide passes and anything with an engine cost extra. The Points Guy's guide says the Cheers! drink package doesn't work there, so check before you pre-buy.
- Half Moon Cay (now RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay): It reopened June 1, 2026 after a rebuild, and Sunrise was the first ship to dock at the new pier. Expect complimentary loungers and umbrellas, new bars and beach grills, and cabanas for rent.
- Nassau: This is a city stop, not a beach-pier stop. The Straw Market is a short walk from the port, and Junkanoo Beach is roughly 10 minutes on foot. Atlantis requires non-guests, cruise passengers included, to buy a day pass in advance, sells them in limited numbers and prices them by date and season. Check the current price on Atlantis's own booking page before you commit, and skip it unless you really want the waterslides.
- Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios: They're the reason to pick the 6-night. They're also the only calls on our list that need a proper excursion plan.
What to pack
Bring swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen and a hat, because the shade runs out faster than the free loungers do. Add water shoes for rocky entries, a light jacket for December evenings and a dry bag for the tram-and-lagoon shuffle. Seasonal quirks
The Nov. 23 sailing lands in Ocho Rios on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26), so expect that week to be busier and pricier. The Dec. 21 sailing gives you Celebration Key on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day is at sea. If you're eyeing the Oct. 26 sailing, confirm its port list with Carnival before you book. It shows Princess Cays rather than the Half Moon Cay call on our other 5-night sailings, and the order of calls shifts from one 5-night sailing to the next.
