What Oceania Allura's Autumn Season Is Actually Like: Mediterranean Farewell, Atlantic Crossing, Then the Caribbean
Our database tags this stretch "Caribbean / Bahamas." Bold of it. Allura spends most of the autumn in Europe, sneaks across the Atlantic, and only reaches the Caribbean when Miami sailings begin on December 2. None of the Miami loops with published ports below call in the Bahamas. If you came here for Nassau, check the final itinerary before you book, because right now the Bahamas are a no-show. Here is how the season breaks down, act by act.
Phase one: the Med's last hurrah (Oct 17 – Nov 17)
The 14-night Istanbul–Tarragona sailing leaves today, October 17, so somewhere out there, someone is already on their second glass of wine. Its published stops are Mykonos, Katakolon, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Messina, Naples, Civitavecchia, Livorno, Toulon, Marseille and Palma. That's a lot of postcards. Mykonos and Palma are listed as afternoon-only calls (roughly 13:00–20:00), so don't plan a sunrise hike. Katakolon's hours vary between listings, so check Oceania's final schedule. Expect mild, changeable weather rather than beach weather, so pack for rain. The upside is thinner crowds than in summer, which means you might actually get a photo of Dubrovnik's walls without a stranger's elbow in it.
We have no port lists for the other European sailings, so confirm them with Oceania before you start fantasizing. The dates do tell us the shapes:
- Oct 31: 7 nights, Tarragona to Rome
- Oct 31: 17 nights, Tarragona to Barcelona
- Nov 7: 10 nights, Rome to Barcelona
Phase two: crossing to Miami
Three one-way sailings end in Miami on December 2: 32 nights from Tarragona (Oct 31), 25 nights from Rome (Nov 7), and 15 nights from Barcelona (Nov 17). The Barcelona departure is listed with Málaga, Agadir, Arrecife in the Canary Islands and San Juan. Some listings count it as a 16-day trip, because that's what happens when someone counts the arrival day. The southerly route is the sensible one for late November. Even so, a westbound ocean crossing means sea days and some swell, so bring your motion-sickness remedy of choice and a very long book. Hurricane season officially ends November 30, and these crossings wrap up just two days after that date. The Atlantic does not always read the calendar, so keep an eye on the forecast.
Phase three: Miami loops (Dec 2 onward)
Now the Caribbean proper, finally. December is generally the start of the drier season, with highs typically in the low-to-mid 80s°F. The ports below come from Oceania-sourced listings:
| Departs Miami | Nights | Published ports |
|---|---|---|
| Dec 2 | 10 | St. Thomas, St. Barts, St. Maarten, St. Croix, Tortola |
| Dec 12 | 9 | St. Thomas, St. Barts, St. Maarten, Tortola |
| Dec 21 | 7 | Costa Maya, Roatán, Harvest Caye (Christmas Day), Cozumel |
| Dec 21 | 17 | The 7-night route above, then the 10-night route below, back to back |
| Dec 28 | 10 | St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Barts, St. Kitts, Tortola |
Our data also lists a 13-night Miami sailing on January 7. Its port list isn't confirmed here, and booking sites show differing stops, so check Oceania's own itinerary page for the final line-up. Do not trust a reseller's confident-looking table. We've seen them be wrong.
Which length suits whom
- 7 nights: Best for a first Oceania trip, or if you want Christmas Day on a Belize beach without taking weeks off work. Your boss will survive. Probably.
- 9–10 nights: The sweet spot for the eastern islands. The Dec 2 and Dec 12 sailings are before the holiday rush, and fares usually soften outside Christmas week. Check current prices on Oceania's site, since fares move and listings disagree wildly.
- 15–32 nights: For people who actually enjoy sea days, and we say that with respect. Budget for a longer wardrobe and read our cabin size guide before you commit to a month in a small room.
What to pack
Europe in October and November needs layers, a packable rain jacket and shoes that can handle cobblestones. Dubrovnik and Kotor will test them, and your calves will file a complaint. The Caribbean needs swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen and a light wrap for the air conditioning, which is always colder than you expect. A transatlantic or back-to-back voyage means both, so yes, you are the person with the big suitcase.
Holiday crowding
Dec 21–28 is peak. Expect busier ports, higher fares and full ship venues. Allura carries 1,218 guests with about 800 crew, so it never feels like a mega-ship, but Harvest Caye on Christmas Day will still be lively. Plan your beach spot like it's a military operation.
The ship scored 100 on its most recent CDC inspection, on March 23, 2026. That's a perfect score, and we're a little jealous. See the Oceania Allura ship page for more, or look up any ship with our CDC inspection lookup.
