What Wonder of the Seas's Autumn Caribbean / Bahamas Season Is Actually Like
Between now and the end of the year, Wonder of the Seas is mostly doing short Bahamas hops out of Miami. Think of it as a quick dash to the shops, except the shop is an 18-deck Oasis Class ship with room for 5,734 guests at standard occupancy. That's a small town in flip-flops, and every one of them has seen the photos of the waterpark. Two islands, one very full ship, and no amount of optimism will get you a quiet beach at 11 am. A little planning on your part goes a long way.
The weather: the good part of the year
The Atlantic hurricane season officially ends on November 30, which covers the first month of these sailings. After that you're outside the official season. "Officially" is doing some work there, though. The National Hurricane Center notes that tropical cyclone activity sometimes occurs before and after those dates, so late storms are possible and the Bahamas don't get a free pass. Glance at the NHC forecast before you sail, then get on with your life. Nassau's long-term averages are roughly 82°F (28°C) for a November daily high and 79°F (26°C) for December. Sea temperatures are about 79°F in November and 77°F in December, and rain is modest (around 60 mm in November, 44 mm in December). These are climate averages, not forecasts. Rain falls on 13 to 14 days a month, so expect short, dramatic showers that storm off as quickly as they arrive, not washouts. Winter cold fronts can bring a breezier, choppier crossing and a cool evening on deck, which is a December thing more than a November one. Yes, you'll be wearing a sweater on a Caribbean cruise. Own it.
What the sailings look like right now
Every sailing in our data leaves Miami. Our database has no port list for the 3-night and 7-night sailings, so the details below come from published timetables for November. Check the December ones on the booking page.
| Length | Ports (November sailings) | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| 4 nights | Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay, plus one sea day. The order flips from week to week. | First-timers, families, anyone who wants a sea day to enjoy the ship |
| 3 nights | Mostly CocoCay and Nassau. The Nov 20 sailing is listed as CocoCay only. | Long-weekend escapes, "will I even like cruising?" experiments |
| 7 nights | The Nov 9 departure calls at Aruba and Curaçao. It's a sold-out, adults-only (21+) Wonderland charter, not a regular public sailing. | Only the charter crowd. You can't book it now. |
What the ports are actually worth
CocoCay is Royal Caribbean's private island, about 55 miles north of Nassau. Timetable listings for the Nov 16 and Nov 23 sailings have the ship there from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Port times can shift, so check your final itinerary before you plan around them. Royal Caribbean says the walk from the ship to Arrivals Plaza takes about 6 minutes, and a complimentary Pier Tram runs along the pier if your feet have already filed a complaint. The beaches at Chill Island and Breezy Bay are free, and the Thrill Waterpark and balloon ride cost extra. The island market sells local Bahamian crafts. Royal Caribbean says you can charge purchases to your SeaPass card until 2:30 pm, and US dollars in cash are always accepted. So if you wander in at 3:00 pm with only a plastic dream, bring cash. Closed-toe shoes are required for the zip line. Drones are banned. Your drink package works on the island, and our bring-alcohol guide covers what you can pack yourself.
Nassau is the loud, busy, commercial one. Timetable listings for the same sailings show the ship in port from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and you'll often share the dock with other ships. Pick one thing, such as a beach or a food stop, and skip the all-day itinerary. Nobody has ever regretted a long lunch.
Crowds, holidays and pricing
Thanksgiving is the busy week. The 4-night sailing leaves Monday, Nov 23, and a 3-night follows on Friday, Nov 27. Expect more families and more multigenerational groups, which means more strollers, more matching T-shirts and a very competitive hunt for pool chairs. Our data runs into the pre-Christmas weeks, with the last 3-night in it leaving Dec 21. Fares tend to climb around the holidays, so check the live fare for your date before you get attached to a number.
What to pack
- Swimsuits and a cover-up. The sea is warm enough for swimming through December.
- A light layer for breezy decks and cooler December evenings.
- A compact rain jacket for those passing showers.
- Sunscreen, water shoes and some US dollars in cash for the CocoCay market after 2:30 pm.
Before you book, you can read the ship's sanitation record on our CDC inspection lookup. Her latest CDC Vessel Sanitation Program score is 99 out of 100, from the September 4, 2026 inspection. Not bad for a floating town.
