Quantum of the Seas, Brisbane 22 Jan 2027: Deadlines & Prep

Quantum of the Seas leaves Brisbane on Friday 22 January 2027 for seven nights, and it’s a very particular kind of trip. It’s peak southern summer and cyclone season, with four sea days and two Vanuatu stops that depend on tender boats behaving. It’s also an international sailing, so the driver’s licence shortcut that works on Australia-only cruises doesn’t apply.

We’re 97 days out as of 17 October 2026, which is exactly when a sensible person starts the to-do list. One caveat first: our own port records for this sailing are blank. The route below is the reported itinerary from agent listings and timetable sites, not yet confirmed by Royal Caribbean, so verify it on the line’s site before you book anything non-refundable.

Start Here

  • Now (97 days out): confirm the port list and times for the 22 Jan sailing on Royal Caribbean’s site or in the Cruise Planner. Neighbouring sailings have different routes.
  • Now: check every passport is valid until at least 29 Jul 2027, six months after the cruise ends.
  • Now: open your booking’s price breakdown and see whether the service charge is already included. If it isn’t, budget US$129.50 per person for a non-suite cabin (7 nights at US$18.50).
  • Aim to finish check-in by Tue 19 Jan 2027: that’s Royal Caribbean’s “at least 3 days before sailing” guidance. Check in through the Royal App and pick your arrival slot; earlier check-in means more slots to choose from. App check-in stays open until 8:00 AM on sailing day, and website check-in closes 48 hours before sailing.
  • Before you drive to the terminal: prepay Wilson Parking in advance. Budget A$124 at Car Park 3 for an 8-calendar-day stay.
Quantum of the Seas: what to sort before 22 Jan. Passport valid until: 29 Jul 2027; Confirm the port list: Now; Service charge: US$18.50/day; Latest online check-in: 19 Jan 2027; Pier check-in cutoff: 2:00 PM; Car Park 3, prepaid: A$124.

What to Do Now and the Deadlines That Bite

Check-in is the deadline that can actually stop you boarding, and Royal Caribbean’s own wording on it isn’t consistent. Different FAQ pages give different cutoffs, so work to the strictest one.

WhenWhat happens
NowConfirm the itinerary, check passports, check whether the service charge is prepaid
Now onwardOpen the Cruise Planner for dining, Wi-Fi, drinks and excursions
Tue 19 Jan 2027The latest to check in online under the “at least 3 days before sailing” rule. Otherwise you check in at the pier at least 2 hours before sailing.
Wed 20 Jan 2027The website check-in window closes 48 hours before sailing, per a separate Royal Caribbean FAQ
Fri 22 Jan, 8:00 AMApp check-in stays open until 8:00 AM on sailing day, per the same FAQ
Fri 22 Jan, 2:00 PM or 2:30 PMPier check-in is at least 2 hours before a 4:00 PM sailing (2:00 PM). Another FAQ says checked in and onboard 90 minutes before sailing (2:30 PM). Treat 2:00 PM as the hard limit.

We can’t confirm when check-in opens for this sailing. An older rule of 45 days is probably outdated, and the app shows the exact date under your booking. Arrival slots are first come, first served, and Brisbane’s first slot time isn’t published.

The port also says each cruise line sets its own check-in process. Arrive in your slot, because early means you can’t board yet and late may mean waiting for a later group.

Specialty dining and add-ons are worth looking at this week, but we can’t give you a confirmed booking window. We found no Quantum-specific reservation window for 2027, only a dated, unconfirmed guess. Check the Cruise Planner and app now. The Unlimited Dining Package, if you want it, must be bought for the full length of the cruise.

Crown & Anchor members get a boarding perk. Gold and above reportedly get priority check-in and a private departure lounge with breakfast. That comes from a secondary source, so verify it with Royal Caribbean. The third-party tier thresholds are Gold 3, Platinum 30, Emerald 55, Diamond 80, Diamond Plus 175 and Pinnacle Club 700 points. One point is one night, and suites earn double.

Embarkation Logistics: Brisbane’s Cruise Terminal

The Brisbane International Cruise Terminal is out at Pinkenba with no public transport, no rental cars and no shuttle, so plan your arrival like a small military operation. The address is 1 Cruise Terminal Drive, Pinkenba QLD 4008, also known as Luggage Point. If GPS has a meltdown, search “Marine Road”, which becomes Cruise Terminal Drive.

  • It’s about 12 km (15 minutes) from Brisbane Airport and about 21 km (30 minutes) from the CBD.
  • The terminal is open only on cruise ship days.
  • There are no storage lockers, but a Baggage Drop sits in the Plaza Area near the main entrance. Never leave bags unattended.
  • After check-in comes security screening, then immigration on international cruises. Then you walk an elevated walkway onto the ship.
  • For accessibility help, contact the cruise line before arrival. General terminal queries go to [email protected].

Parking

Book parking in advance, and mind the calendar-day maths. Wilson Parking runs three on-site car parks with 900+ spaces. Car Parks 1 and 2 are prepaid only, and Car Park 3 has limited drive-up spaces. Wilson’s number is 1800 727 546.

Car Park 3 rate7 days8 days
Prepaid (per calendar day, platform fee included)A$111A$124
Drive-upA$142A$163
Saving from prepaying (not a price)A$31A$39

Parking from 22 Jan to 29 Jan touches 8 calendar days, so budget A$124, not A$111. That’s our reading of “per calendar day”, so confirm it at booking. Prepaying needs the Wilson Parking App and doesn’t guarantee a space. If the car park is full, staff try to find an alternative and refund your online payment.

We found no verified P1 or P2 rates. Offsite options include Andrew’s Airport Parking on (07) 3268 4222 and Portside Parking on (07) 3630 0922, and the port notes its list isn’t exhaustive. Wilson’s Park N Cruise at 142 Main Beach Rd has a complimentary shuttle, but we couldn’t verify its price.

Taxis, rideshare and drop-off

You’ll need a taxi, rideshare or private transfer, and we have no official fare to quote. The 2-minute Passenger Pick-up/Set Down Area is in front of the terminal, and the driver must stay with the vehicle. The taxi rank and rideshare zone are each about 120 m away, and for rideshare you book only after leaving the terminal.

Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and northern NSW guests are told to contact their travel agent. We found no Royal Caribbean transfer product for Brisbane, so check the Cruise Planner before assuming one exists.

Night-before hotels

Airport-area hotels are the logical pick, but we couldn’t verify prices for 21 Jan. Aggregator listings show Pullman Brisbane Airport (about 11 minutes to the terminal), Novotel Brisbane Airport (about 13 minutes), ibis Brisbane Airport, and budget options Kingsford Smith Motel and Novena Palms Motel. The Ascot Budget Inn is about 20 minutes away. A CBD stay means about 30 minutes by car, at a fare we couldn’t confirm.

Disembarkation

The ship is due back at 6:30 AM on Friday 29 Jan, and we found no published disembarkation window. Don’t book flights until you have your disembarkation time from the app or your booking documents. Before you get off, you’ll complete a Customs Declaration Form, because cruise arrivals follow the same biosecurity and customs rules as flights.

The Ship and How to Work It

Quantum is built for people who like their cruise with gadgets: bumper cars, robot bartenders and a glass capsule that lifts you above the ocean. Royal Caribbean’s ship page confirms Two70 and Café Two70, North Star, SeaPlex (with bumper cars), the Bionic Bar, FlowRider, laser tag (“Clash for the Crystal City”), the Royal Escape Room, and the shows Starwater and Sonic Odyssey. Full details live on our Quantum of the Seas page.

  • RipCord by iFly was marked “out of service” on the ship page when we checked. Don’t promise it to anyone until you’ve confirmed.
  • FlowRider and RipCord cost extra, per a secondary source. We couldn’t confirm current prices.
  • The 2024 refurbishment: we couldn’t verify what it changed, so we won’t invent a list.

Dining

Plenty of food is included, but the big-name restaurants cost extra. The list we have is undated, so confirm it in the Cruise Planner.

  • Included: Main Dining Room, Windjammer Marketplace, Café Promenade, Sorrento’s Pizza, The Café @ Two70, Solarium Bistro and the SeaPlex Dog House.
  • Extra charge: Chops Grille, Izumi (hand-rolled sushi), Jamie’s Italian by Jamie Oliver, Wonderland, La Patisserie and Chef’s Table.
  • Coastal Kitchen: one source calls it a suite-guest space, so don’t assume it’s open to everyone.
  • Chops Grille was last seen at US$24.99 to US$54.99 per person from an undated third-party guide. Check the Cruise Planner for the current price.

Dining room names and venue counts vary by source, so we’re not quoting them.

Adults-only space and kids

The Solarium is the adults-only escape, and it’s the only one we can confirm. It’s a three-tiered area under a glass roof, and Royal Caribbean reportedly raised the age limit from 16 to 18. That article is undated, so verify the current rule. Kids may walk through to reach Solarium Bistro but can’t stay. We found no separate adults-only retreat on Quantum.

The deck plan lists the H2O Zone as the kids’ aqua park, with a wave pool, baby splash pool, lazy river, two mini slides, a whirlpool and a drench bucket. There’s also an indoor pool open to all ages.

ClubAges (secondary source, verify)
Royal Babies & Tots Nursery6 to 36 months, drop-off, about US$6/hr by day and US$8/hr at night; included for suite guests
Aquanauts3 to 5 years, potty trained
Explorers6 to 8 years
Voyagers9 to 11 years
Teens12 to 17, split into 12 to 14 and 15 to 17

Adventure Ocean is free in regular hours, with fees after 10 pm. A Cruise Critic report says an overhaul changed the groups (including teens at 13 to 17), so settle the age bands on Royal Caribbean’s own page before you promise a teenager anything.

The Ports: Mystery Island and Port Vila

Both stops are in Vanuatu, both are reported at 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and both come with weather and tender caveats. All-aboard is earlier than the 5:00 PM departure, and the exact time isn’t confirmed, so check it with Royal Caribbean. One listing shows 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM instead, so call times are unconfirmed. Don’t confuse this route with the 29 Jan sailing, which goes to Nouméa and Mystery Island. For other routes, see our Quantum itineraries page.

Mystery Island (Mon 25 Jan)

Ships can’t dock here, so you’ll be tendered ashore. A tender ride is reportedly 10 to 15 minutes. It’s an uninhabited islet off the southern tip of Aneityum, and everything is on foot.

  • Do: snorkel (calm water, a nearby reef), do beach time, and buy handmade shell work from Aneityum artisans who come over daily.
  • Bring your own snorkel gear. Royal Caribbean’s page for another ship says there are no rentals on the island.
  • Money: the currency is the vatu (VT). Sources disagree on notes versus coins, so carry small change in both vatu and AUD. Tipping isn’t expected and haggling isn’t customary.
  • Facilities: one port guide says no electricity or running water. There are no shops or attractions beyond the beach, reef and stalls.
  • Shell work and Customs: we didn’t verify Australian declaration rules for shells or wood carvings. Check the Department of Agriculture before you buy.

We found no 2026 excursion list or prices, so check Royal Caribbean’s shore excursion page for this sailing.

Port Vila (Tue 26 Jan)

We can’t confirm whether Quantum will tender or use a wharf at Port Vila. A December 2024 magnitude 7.3 earthquake damaged the port and halted cruise calls. Royal Caribbean’s itinerary page for this route type lists tendering at both ports, but we found nothing from 2026 to confirm it. A tender queue plus a 5:00 PM departure means you shouldn’t cut timing fine. It’s also Australia Day back home, though Vanuatu didn’t get the memo.

  • Getting around: an older, pre-earthquake guide says shared vans cost a flat 150 VT (about AU$1.90) within central Port Vila. Taxis are described as relatively expensive, so agree a fare first.
  • Mele Cascades: about 2 miles east of town, with an entry charge we couldn’t find and a walk of about 20 minutes.
  • Earthquake legacy: Smartraveller says some tourism businesses were still reopening or operating from temporary locations.
  • Ship excursion versus independent: the ship waits for its own tours but not for you. We found no current tour prices.

Safety advice

Official advice is at its lowest level, but check live pages before you go. Smartraveller lists Vanuatu as “Exercise normal safety precautions”. The US State Department shows Level 1, “Exercise normal precautions”, issued 22 May 2025. We couldn’t confirm current health, water, crime or volcano advisories for these two ports.

Conditions and Packing for Southern Summer

Ignore the word “winter” you might see elsewhere: late January here is peak southern summer. Brisbane in January averages a daily maximum of about 30.4 °C, a minimum of about 21.7 °C and about 141 mm of rain. Port Vila typically reaches highs of about 27 to 28 °C with high humidity. We found no reliable rainfall figure for Port Vila or climate data for Mystery Island.

This is cyclone season, not hurricane season, and it can change your itinerary. The South-west Pacific season runs 1 Nov to 30 Apr. Queensland activity typically peaks in February and March.

  • A regional outlook for 2026/27 calls for 7 to 11 named cyclones, with at least 4 of Category 3 or higher.
  • El Niño was declared in early July 2026.
  • That outlook reached us secondhand, and we couldn’t find the Bureau of Meteorology’s own 2026-27 Australian outlook.
  • Wind and swell are the main hazard for tendering at Mystery Island, and one cruiser reported a missed stop in bad weather.

Four of the eight days are at sea in open ocean, but we found no sourced sea-state or seasickness data for the Coral Sea. Pack accordingly:

  • Light, breathable clothes and swimwear.
  • Reef-safe sun protection, hat and sunglasses.
  • A compact rain jacket.
  • Water shoes and your own snorkel gear.

Leave the irons at home, because they’re banned. So are extension cords, power strips and multi-plug outlets. Hair dryers may be prohibited depending on specs, and one is provided in your stateroom.

Money

We haven’t confirmed a current fare for this sailing, and prices vary by cabin type and seller, so check the live price on Royal Caribbean’s Australian site. Flights and transfers aren’t in the fare either.

Service charge

Whether the service charge is already in your fare is the biggest unresolved Australian-market question. Royal Caribbean said in 2023 that it’s included in the fare for Australian and New Zealand bookings. The Australian FAQ page shows USD rates and doesn’t mention inclusion, so check your booking’s price breakdown. If it isn’t prepaid, these apply per guest, per day:

Stateroom typePer day7 nights, per person
Non-suiteUS$18.50US$129.50
SuiteUS$21.00US$147.00

Those totals are our arithmetic, and whether 7 or 8 days are charged isn’t established. Separately, 18% is added automatically to beverages and packages, specialty dining, room service and minibar, and 20% to spa and salon. You can adjust the gratuity at Guest Relations before the morning of disembarkation. More on who gets what in our tipping guide.

Drinks and Wi-Fi

Do the drink package maths before you buy, because it doesn’t suit light drinkers on a seven-night cruise. We found no official AUD price for Quantum on this sailing, and the dated figures we saw disagree. The rules are clearer:

  • The package must be bought for the whole cruise and for every adult in the cabin.
  • In Australia, the minimum age to buy is 18.
  • The Deluxe covers drinks up to about US$14 each and excludes room service and minibar items.
  • Divide the daily price by what you’d really pay per drink (one cocktail was reported at US$15 onboard), then multiply by 7 nights and by every adult.

For Wi-Fi, expect roughly US$30 to US$39 per day per device, cheaper if pre-booked. That’s an estimate from US-style sailings, not an Australian price.

Bringing your own

Wine is your cheap trick, but the details need confirming. The most recent policy we saw allows one 750ml bottle per adult on boarding day only. A $15 corkage fee applies if you open it in a bar, restaurant or lounge, though it’s reportedly rarely enforced. Older sources said two bottles per stateroom.

A February 2026 report also mentioned up to 12 non-alcoholic drinks. Beer and spirits can’t come aboard for consumption. We couldn’t load the Australian beverage FAQ, so check it and read our alcohol rules explainer.

Mystery Island is the low-spend day: bring coins and your own snorkel gear. We found no 2026 pricing for photo packages, specialty dining beyond the Chops range, or shore excursions.

Documents and Rules

You need a passport, because this sailing leaves Australia. Royal Caribbean says a passport book is required on any sailing that leaves Australia. The driver’s licence option applies only to cruises calling solely at Australian ports.

ItemRule
Passport validityAt least 6 months after the cruise ends, so to at least 29 Jul 2027 (our arithmetic)
OriginalsNo photocopies, and names must match across all documents
BoardingYou may be denied boarding if your passport doesn’t meet the rule
ChildrenMedicare card and birth certificate options are for domestic sailings; confirm with Royal Caribbean for this one
Minors travelling without a parent or with a different last nameAdditional documents needed; exact requirements not established

The guest is solely responsible for the documents of everyone in their care. Keep documents in your carry-on for check-in.

Visa needs depend on nationality. Vanuatu’s tourism board says citizens of many countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the EU and the USA, need no visa for stays up to 120 days. Other nationalities should check Vanuatu’s official visa-exempt list, and a visa is quoted at 5,150 VT. We found no cruise-specific waiver and no passenger entry or Mystery Island landing fee.

Prohibited items are strict. Banned outright are illegal drugs (including marijuana, even with medical authorisation), firearms, fireworks, flammables and open flames, martial arts and self-defence items, mace and pepper spray, and clothing irons and steamers. Pets are out except service animals. Smart glasses are allowed, but not in the casino, spa service areas, restrooms, medical facilities or crew areas. Baby items are reviewed case by case via [email protected].

Royal Caribbean’s prohibited items page doesn’t cover medication and says to contact the line before sailing. We couldn’t verify official Australian guidance on carrying prescription medicines, so check with the line and Australian authorities.

FAQ: Quantum of the Seas from Brisbane, 22 January 2027

Do I need a passport for the Quantum of the Seas Brisbane cruise on 22 January 2027?

Yes. The reported route calls at Vanuatu, and Royal Caribbean Australia requires a passport book for any sailing that leaves Australia. The driver’s licence option covers only Australia-only itineraries. Your passport should be valid until at least 29 July 2027, six months after the cruise ends, and you may be denied boarding if it isn’t.

Which ports does Quantum of the Seas visit on 22 January 2027?

Agent listings show Mystery Island on Monday 25 January and Port Vila on Tuesday 26 January, with sea days on 23, 24, 27 and 28 January. Royal Caribbean hasn’t confirmed this for us. The 29 January sailing goes to Nouméa and Mystery Island instead, so check the exact departure date on the line’s site.

Is the service charge included on Royal Caribbean cruises from Brisbane?

Royal Caribbean said in 2023 that it’s included in the fare for Australian and New Zealand bookings. The Australian FAQ page shows USD rates and doesn’t mention inclusion, so check your booking’s price breakdown. If it isn’t prepaid, expect US$18.50 per person per day for non-suites and US$21.00 for suites.

How much does parking cost at the Brisbane cruise terminal for this sailing?

At Car Park 3, prepaid parking is A$111 for 7 days and A$124 for 8 days, charged per calendar day. A 22 to 29 January stay touches 8 calendar days, so budget A$124 and confirm at booking. Drive-up is A$142 for 7 days and A$163 for 8, so prepaying saves about A$39 on the 8-day stay.

Can I bring wine on Royal Caribbean from Brisbane?

The most recent policy we found allows one 750ml bottle per adult on boarding day only, with a $15 corkage fee if you open it in a bar, restaurant or lounge. That fee is reportedly rarely enforced. Older sources said two bottles per stateroom, so check the Australian beverage FAQ before you pack. Beer and spirits can’t be brought on for consumption.

Is Mystery Island a tender port?

Yes, ships can’t dock there, so you’re tendered ashore. A tender ride is reportedly 10 to 15 minutes. Wind and swell are the main hazard, and one cruiser reported a missed stop in bad weather. Bring your own snorkel gear, because Royal Caribbean’s page for another ship says there are no rentals on the island.

Is January a risky time to cruise from Brisbane?

It’s inside cyclone season, which runs 1 November to 30 April in the South-west Pacific. A regional 2026/27 outlook expects 7 to 11 named cyclones, with at least 4 of Category 3 or higher, though we couldn’t verify the Bureau of Meteorology’s own outlook. Itineraries can change for weather or safety reasons, so keep your plans flexible.

The Bottom Line

This is a seven-night summer sampler, as long as you handle the paperwork early and treat the port list as provisional. Do the passport check now, and confirm the itinerary on Royal Caribbean’s site before booking flights. Your booking in the app shows when check-in opens, and parking should be prepaid in advance, so slot both in once you have your dates, then hold the rest loosely.

Quantum scored 100 out of 100 on her 10 March 2026 CDC inspection, which is the only number here you can relax about. Everything else, from tender boats to cyclone odds, rewards the people who checked early and packed small change. Get your all-aboard times confirmed with Royal Caribbean, and enjoy the vatu-powered shell shopping.
