Let’s get the plot twist out of the way before you book a “Caribbean autumn” and end up eating gelato in Split. Celebrity Eclipse spends the start of this season in Europe. The Caribbean chapter doesn’t start until November 24, 2026. That’s when the ship leaves Fort Lauderdale, right after a 14-night Atlantic crossing that sets off from Barcelona on November 10. The Fort Lauderdale run then rolls on into February 2027, well past the official end of autumn. Our database files the ship under “Caribbean / Bahamas” because of those Florida departures, so the question worth asking is whether this 16-year-old, mid-sized, grown-up-leaning ship is right for you.

The Ship’s Character, and Who It Suits
Eclipse is the cruising equivalent of a well-tailored blazer. It isn’t the newest thing in the wardrobe, but it still fits. It’s a Solstice-class ship, and it keeps the class’s best party tricks. The Lawn Club is about half an acre of real grass on top of a cruise ship, which is still delightfully absurd. The adults-only glass-roofed Solarium has a pool, hot tubs and a bar. The Hot Glass Show is a genuine crowd-pleaser. For dinner there are Tuscan Grille, Qsine and Le Petit Chef, all of which cost extra.
The ship also isn’t frozen in 2010. Our records list a 2015 refurbishment. Then in spring 2025, Cruise Industry News reports, she spent about three weeks in dry dock at the Damen shipyard in Brest, France (reports differ on the exact dates). Carpets, upholstery and furniture were replaced. A new Retreat Lounge appeared on Deck 5, with an exclusive solarium on Deck 16 for suite guests. Ten inside staterooms were squeezed in on Decks 6, 9, 12 and 15. They replaced the internet café, tech shop, card room and arcade, so if you’re nostalgic for the arcade, I’m sorry for your loss.
Who is she for? Couples, friends’ trips, and travellers who want polish over pandemonium. At 2,850 guests she’s big enough for choice and small enough that you won’t need a map by day three. Families with water-slide-obsessed kids will find slimmer pickings, since this isn’t a slides-and-surf-simulator ship. On cleanliness she has a 94 from her March 22, 2026 CDC inspection. You can check the full report in our CDC cruise ship inspection lookup, and the ship’s profile is on her Eclipse page.
The Itineraries on Offer, and Which to Pick
The full dated schedule is on our Celebrity Eclipse itineraries page, so I won’t duplicate it. Here is how the season is stitched together. Every sailing starts the day the previous one ends, so it’s one continuous chain. Our own port data is complete only for the Ravenna sailing. For the rest, ports come from booking-site listings, and Celebrity can and does shuffle them, so confirm before you pay.
- Oct 19, 11 nights, from Ravenna: Our data lists Piraeus-Athens, Santorini, Rhodes, Kusadasi (for Ephesus), Mykonos, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Split. That’s three days away, so this one is realistically for people already booked.
- Oct 30, 11 nights, from Piraeus-Athens: CruiseWeb bills it as “Greece, Italy & France,” with Santorini, Mykonos, Naples and Rome among the calls. Our own port list is missing for this one.
- Nov 10, 14 nights, Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale: Listings show Palma de Mallorca, Cartagena, Málaga, Gibraltar and Bermuda, with several sea days in between. It arrives in Fort Lauderdale on November 24.
- Nov 24, 9 nights: Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and St. Thomas.
- Dec 3, 9 nights: St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Dominica and Antigua.
- Dec 12, 10 nights: Southern Caribbean, with Tortola, Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Kitts in the listings.
- Dec 22, 12 nights: Southern Caribbean with Barbados, Curaçao, Bonaire and Aruba on the route.
- Jan 3, 5 nights: Key West and Cozumel.
- Jan 8, 9 nights: Antigua, Dominica, Martinique and St. Maarten.
- Jan 17, 12 nights: Ultimate Southern Caribbean: St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Barbados, Curaçao, Bonaire and Aruba.
- Jan 29, 10 nights: Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Vincent and St. Kitts.
- Feb 8, 11 nights: Ultimate Southern Caribbean, with Grenada among the calls.
My picks. If you only have a week-ish and want a classic, take a 9-night sailing. The November 24 and December 3 departures are island-hopper specials with no ports you’ll regret. If you want the Christmas-and-New-Year trip, the December 22, 12-night sailing covers both holidays and returns on January 3. If you’re a snorkelling and beach person, the 12-night routes with Bonaire and Aruba are the ones. If you’re curious about cruising but nervous, the 5-night Key West and Cozumel trip on January 3 is the only short one and the only Western Caribbean sailing on the list. And if sea days are your love language, the November 10 transatlantic is a proper Mediterranean-to-Florida adventure. Know that it arrives November 24, the same day the next sailing departs, so it’s a tight hand-off for the ship.
Ports and What’s Genuinely Worth Doing
Antigua (St. John’s). The big-ticket item is the Shirley Heights lookout above English Harbour, which is world-famous for its Sunday evening barbecue party (roughly 4 to 10 pm, according to listings). The catch: the party only helps if your call falls on a Sunday. The November 24 sailing reaches Antigua on a Friday, so check the day of the week before you plan around it. A visit to Nelson’s Dockyard is a good daytime substitute.
St. Lucia (Castries). The Pitons, the twin volcanic spires, are the postcard. It’s a full-day excursion, so book early or go independent with a vetted driver. Don’t try to squeeze it in alongside a second big plan.
Curaçao, Bonaire and Aruba. The 12-night routes are the beach-and-reef sailings. Willemstad has a colourful waterfront that’s easy to explore on foot. Bonaire is shore diving and snorkelling country. Aruba is for beach-sitters who just want sand and a drink.
Dominica, Martinique and St. Kitts. These are the less-polished, more-scenic islands. Dominica is the rainforest-and-waterfalls stop, and St. Kitts adds history with the hilltop fortress at Brimstone Hill.
Key West and Cozumel. The 5-night sailing gives you a walkable, Key West-style day and a Mexican beach-or-ruins day. It’s classic starter-cruise fare.
Bermuda (transatlantic). For the crossing, Bermuda gives you pink-sand beaches and a day to stretch your legs after a few sea days. It’s a worthy payoff.
Conditions and Packing for This Season
Atlantic hurricane season officially runs through November 30, so the November 24 sailing straddles the end. Late storms are uncommon but possible, and cruise lines reroute when they happen. December is generally drier than summer, with steady northeast trade winds. In the southern Caribbean, expect highs in the mid-80s °F. A fare-comparison table puts Barbados at about 84°F for the day and 73°F overnight in December, but treat that as a rough guide. Late December into January brings a spell of stronger “Christmas trades,” so the crossing days between islands can be breezier and choppier than you’d expect.
What to pack? Lightweight clothes, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and a light layer for air-conditioned dining rooms and breezy top decks. Add sturdy sandals or walking shoes for forts and hillsides, and a small waterproof pouch. For evenings, Celebrity has an “Evening Chic” dress code on some nights, so pack one or two nicer outfits and check your booking for the specifics. The Europe-based sailings and the transatlantic need warmer layers and a rain jacket, because late October and November in the Mediterranean aren’t beach weather.
Money: Where the Value Is
Here is the rule of thumb for fares: they’re quoted per person, based on two sharing a cabin, so double them for the cabin. As an example, iCruise listed an interior fare for the January 8 9-night at $1,589 per person when I checked, with taxes and fees included. That’s $3,178 for a two-person cabin. Then comes the daily gratuity. Since July 29, 2026, Celebrity’s automatic gratuity is $19.50 per person per day for inside, ocean view and veranda cabins ($20.50 for Concierge and AquaClass, $24.50 for The Retreat). Over nine nights that’s about $175.50 per person, or $351 for two. That brings the total to roughly $3,529 before drinks, excursions, Wi-Fi and flights. Gratuity timing and extras are covered in our cruise tipping guide. Bar purchases also carry an extra 20% gratuity, so a $14 cocktail isn’t really $14.
Which length is the best deal per night? Using the iCruise interior fares I saw for the January sailings: the 5-night at $569 works out to roughly $114 per night, the 10-night at $1,727 about $173, the 9-night at $1,589 about $177, and the 12-night at $2,357 about $196. The short sailing is cheapest per night, but you’re paying for fewer ports. The transatlantic can be the best per-night deal on the board. Interior quotes for it ranged from about $1,228 to $1,725 across the sites I checked, or roughly $88 to $123 per night for 14 nights. But you also need flights to Barcelona, plus a return flight from Fort Lauderdale.
And a warning: don’t compare prices between sites without checking the cabin type and the date. The January 17, 12-night sailing was $2,357 on iCruise and $1,816 on CruiseWeb. That’s a $541-per-person gap on the same ship and the same route. Some of that will be different cabin categories or timing, which is exactly why you check.
Timing: When to Book and What Sells Out
As of today, October 16, 2026, the two Europe sailings are days away and the transatlantic is 25 days out. The first Fort Lauderdale departure, November 24, is 39 days away, so you’re in last-minute territory. The holiday sailing on December 22 is 67 days away. Holiday-week departures are usually the first to get tight, so if that’s your sailing, don’t dawdle. I can’t see live inventory, so confirm availability with Celebrity or a travel agent.
Practical tips: for the November 24 sailing, fly into Fort Lauderdale the day before, because that morning is a turnaround day for the ship, arriving from the Atlantic crossing. Check your final-payment date, since the balance is due before sailing. Book shore excursions, specialty dinners and Retreat extras early on popular islands.
FAQ: Your Celebrity Eclipse Caribbean Questions
Is Celebrity Eclipse a good ship for a Caribbean cruise?
Yes, if you want a polished, adult-leaning ship rather than a floating theme park. Eclipse has real grass on the Lawn Club, an adults-only Solarium, Hot Glass Show and several specialty restaurants. She dates from 2010, and our records list a 2015 refurbishment. Cruise Industry News also reports a further dry dock refresh in spring 2025. Families seeking water slides may find better options elsewhere.
When does Celebrity Eclipse start sailing the Caribbean in 2026?
The first Fort Lauderdale departure is a 9-night sailing on November 24, 2026. Before that, the ship is in Europe: an 11-night sailing from Ravenna on October 19, another from Piraeus-Athens on October 30, and a 14-night transatlantic from Barcelona on November 10 that arrives in Fort Lauderdale on November 24.
Does Celebrity Eclipse go to the Bahamas this autumn?
Not on the autumn and winter Fort Lauderdale listings I checked. The routes lean Eastern and Southern Caribbean, with Key West and Cozumel on the 5-night January 3 trip. Our database groups the ship under “Caribbean / Bahamas” by region, but no Nassau call turned up. Confirm port lists with Celebrity before booking.
What is Celebrity Eclipse’s CDC inspection score?
Celebrity Eclipse scored 94 out of 100 in her most recent CDC Vessel Sanitation Program inspection, on March 22, 2026. A score of 85 or above counts as satisfactory under the program. You can look up the full inspection report through our CDC cruise ship inspection lookup.
Is it safe to cruise the Caribbean in late November?
Atlantic hurricane season officially ends on November 30, so a late-November sailing is at the tail end of it. Late storms are uncommon but possible, and cruise lines adjust itineraries when needed. December sailings fall after the official season. Consider travel insurance that covers itinerary changes, and watch forecasts as your sailing date approaches.
How much are gratuities on Celebrity Eclipse?
Since July 29, 2026, the automatic gratuity is $19.50 per person per day in inside, ocean view and veranda cabins. It’s $20.50 for Concierge Class and AquaClass, and $24.50 for The Retreat. For a 9-night sailing in a standard cabin, that’s about $175.50 per person. A 20% gratuity is also added to bar purchases.
The Bottom Line
Eclipse is a strong pick if you want a comfortable, grown-up mid-sized ship with real food options and a Southern Caribbean route that doesn’t waste your time. She’s a weaker pick for slide-hungry families, or for anyone who needs the newest ship afloat. Remember that “autumn in the Caribbean” really means a late-November start, so if you want to sail before that, you’re booking Europe. For island-hopping, the 9-night sailings are the sweet spot, the December 22 12-night is the holiday play, and the 5-night January 3 sailing is a short, cheap taster. Run the per-person versus per-cabin maths, add the gratuities, compare like for like, and check the schedule on our Eclipse itineraries page before you commit.
