The full departure list lives on our MSC Grandiosa itineraries page. This piece is about whether you’d actually enjoy the thing.

First, a plot twist. Per our schedule, the Grandiosa is still in Europe today, October 25, 2026, with 19- and 20-night sailings leaving Marseille today. She’s in the middle of her autumn commute, the cruise-ship version of snowbirding. Several Mediterranean departures run toward Florida, and agency listings show them arriving in Miami or Port Canaveral on November 13 or 14. From Saturday, November 14, she’s back at Port Canaveral for the Bahamas and Caribbean run. So “autumn in the Caribbean” really means six Saturday departures (November 14, 21 and 28, then December 5, 12 and 19), plus a crossing if you’re feeling dramatic.

MSC Grandiosa from Port Canaveral: what each sailing costs. Nov 14, 7 nights: $319; Nov 21, 7 nights: $466; Nov 28, 7 nights: $329; Nov 14, 14 nights: $773; Nov 21, 14 nights: $783; Nov 28, 14 nights: $656; Service charge, standard cabin: $17 per day.

The Ship: Big, Bright and Built for Options

Our data lists 4,888 passengers and 1,704 crew, or roughly 2.9 guests per crew member. Some listings quote a maximum nearer 6,300 when every berth is filled, so expect a lively ship. Her key spaces are a three-deck atrium and a two-deck, mall-style promenade called Galleria Grandiosa. The cave-like thermal spa has a snow chamber, which is a very specific flex. She was also the first Meraviglia-Plus ship to homeport at a US port, and when she arrived at Port Canaveral in December 2025 she became the second MSC ship based there, joining MSC Seashore.

Reviewers are mixed, and I’d rather you hear it from me than from a stranger in the buffet queue. Some find the layout confusing, with dead ends, awkward furniture and indoor bottlenecks. One critic called the mainstage shows underwhelming, while the lounge musicians get better notes. Specialty dining and drinks cost extra. You can read more on the Grandiosa ship page.

She suits: first-timers and families who like a ship with a lot going on, and couples who want a one-week Florida getaway at a low base fare. She also suits anyone who enjoys picking from a buffet of bars. She suits less: anyone who wants quiet, an all-inclusive price, or a ship you can navigate without a map.

On cleanliness, the 99 is strong against the CDC’s passing mark of 86. The inspection date, December 6, 2025, is also the day she arrived at Port Canaveral. It’s a snapshot almost eleven months old, so check our CDC inspection lookup for anything newer.

The Itineraries: Which One to Pick

The crossings (now to November 14). Here’s what a long list of departures doesn’t tell you: these aren’t a dozen different cruises, they’re one. The Grandiosa makes a single trip from the Mediterranean to Florida, and it’s sold in overlapping slices. You choose where to hop on and where to hop off, and you can only book one of them, because the ship can’t be in Marseille, Rome and Funchal at once. Per our schedule, the longest slice is 20 nights from Marseille on October 25, alongside a 19-night version from Marseille and 19- and 18-night versions from Genoa on October 26. From Civitavecchia-Rome on October 28 there are 16- and 17-night options, plus a 3-night sailing that, per agency listings, is a short Rome-to-Barcelona stretch of the same trip. Later come 15 nights from Palma (October 30), 13 and 14 nights from Barcelona (October 31) and 10 nights from Funchal (November 3). The paired lengths come from the two finish lines: agency listings show some slices ending in Miami on November 13 and others at Port Canaveral on November 14. One schedule aggregator lists the full 20-night routing as Marseille, Genoa, La Spezia, Civitavecchia-Rome, Palma, Barcelona, Funchal (November 3), San Juan (November 10) and Miami (November 13), then Port Canaveral (November 14). Our own data doesn’t record ports of call for these, so confirm the exact routing and lengths with MSC. The Funchal sailing is listed running via San Juan to Miami, with “from” fares of $589 on one site and $740 on another.

The 7-night Port Canaveral loops. Agency listings give two patterns, and I’m assuming they repeat through the season:

  • Western pattern (November 14 and 28): Nassau, Ocean Cay, Cozumel and Costa Maya, then home. Pick this for variety, Mexican reefs and the most ports.
  • Eastern pattern (November 21): Nassau, Ocean Cay and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, then home. Pick this for more sea time and a lazier week.

A schedule aggregator labels the December 5 and 19 sailings eastern, and December 12 western. We haven’t confirmed the December port lists, so verify them before booking.

The 14-night sailings. They run one western and one eastern week back to back, with Port Canaveral at the halfway point, so you get Nassau and Ocean Cay twice. That’s a bargain if you love Ocean Cay and a drag if you don’t. Two weeks away works best for retirees, remote workers and the very well rested.

The Ports: What’s Actually Worth Doing

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve (Bahamas). This is the headline act. Sunbeds are free, while shades and cabanas cost extra. South Beach has the calmest lagoon water, Lighthouse Bay is the busiest, and the ocean-side beaches need water shoes. The lighthouse climb takes about 30 minutes and rewards you with a 360-degree view. Snorkeling is the main draw, and the snorkel safari requires swimmers aged 8 or over. The farthest corner is about a 20-minute walk, and golf carts run a regular route. One guide suggests allowing five hours ashore plus 30 minutes to get back to the ship. You don’t need an excursion for a perfectly good beach day.

Nassau. It’s busy, touristy and a reliable first stop. My advice is to keep expectations modest and go early.

Cozumel and Costa Maya (Mexico). Cozumel’s reefs are the classic reason to go. Costa Maya’s pier area has a resort-style pool, the free Danza de los Voladores flying-pole performance in the central square, and the Aviarius bird park. That was $14 for adults in the source I found, which was dated, so check it. For snorkeling, the village of Mahahual is nearby.

Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic). MSC ships typically use the newer Taino Bay port, which opened in 2021 and sits close to town. It has shops, bars and a pool area. The man-made beach isn’t for open-water swimming. The historic center, San Felipe Fortress and the three-mile Malecón boardwalk are all within reach. One listed waterfall tour runs about 3.5 hours and costs $60 per adult, but prices change.

Conditions and Packing for This Season

The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs to November 30. Storms are rarer in late season, but not unheard of, and activity is very low by December 1. That’s why the November 14, 21 and 28 departures are the ones to watch the National Hurricane Center for. The December departures sail after the window closes.

I didn’t find a reliable Caribbean-wide weather source, and the Cozumel rainfall figures I saw contradicted each other. Nassau’s long-term November averages are a decent guide:

  • Daytime highs of about 28°C (82°F) and nights of about 20°C (68°F)
  • Sea temperature around 26°C (79°F)
  • About 14 days with some rain, totaling around 60 mm (2.4 inches)
  • A high UV index of 6
  • Sunset around 5:20 to 5:30 pm, so it gets dark early

Pack: swimwear, sunscreen, water shoes for Ocean Cay’s ocean beaches, a light rain jacket, and a light layer for air-conditioned venues and cool evenings. Bring your passport for the ports in Mexico and the Dominican Republic rather than gamble on lesser documents.

Money: Where the Value Is

These are “from” fares from one agency listing (iCruise): per person, inside cabin, two sharing, taxes and fees included. They move daily and differ from site to site, so treat them as a snapshot and check the live price with MSC or your agent.

DepartureLengthRouteFrom (per person)Per night
Nov 147 nightsNassau, Ocean Cay, Cozumel, Costa Maya$319about $46
Nov 217 nightsNassau, Ocean Cay, Puerto Plata$466about $67
Nov 287 nightsNassau, Ocean Cay, Cozumel, Costa Maya$329about $47
Nov 1414 nightsWestern week, then eastern week$773about $55
Nov 2114 nightsEastern week, then western week$783about $56
Nov 2814 nightsWestern week, then eastern week$656about $47

On that listing, the November 21 sailing costs $137 more than November 28 ($466 versus $329). Another site showed $429 for November 21, a $100 gap, so the exact premium varies, but November 21 was the priciest 7-night week on both. It spans Thanksgiving on November 26, which is the likeliest reason, though that’s my inference. The 14-night fares disagree even more: the November 28 sailing was $656 on one site and $757 on another. The November 14 7-night sailing showed anything from $309 to $398 depending on the site, so check the live price.

The fare isn’t the whole bill. MSC’s service charge for Caribbean sailings has been $17 per person per day in standard cabins since May 11, 2026. That’s $23 in Yacht Club suites, and children under two are exempt. Over seven nights, standard cabins pay $119 per person ($161 for Yacht Club). So a $319 sailing is $438 per person with gratuities, or $876 for two. Our tipping guide covers whether anyone gets extra.

Drinks are where budgets go to die. One third-party price list shows the Premium Extra package at about $85 per night prepaid, or $98 on board, for sailings of seven nights or more. At $85, seven nights is $595 per person, nearly double the $319 fare. Everyone sharing your cabin has to buy it, so do the maths on your actual drinking before you click. MSC’s own US pricing isn’t published in a form I could confirm.

My value pick is the 7-night November 14 sailing, at about $46 a night on the listing above ($319 per person). November 28 is a close second at $329, or about $47 a night. The 14-night version priced differently from site to site, so compare before you commit.

Timing: When to Book and What Goes First

As of today, the November 3 Funchal sailing is 9 days out. November 14 is 20 days out, November 21 is 27 days, November 28 is 34 days and December 19 is 55. I can’t see live availability, so I can’t tell you what’s sold out. Thanksgiving week is the sailing to book first, since it’s already the priciest. Holiday sailings (December 26 onward) are outside this article, but expect them to cost more.

The cheaper weeks, November 14 and 28, are more flexible. If one is out of your price range, watch the fare for a few days. Book early if you need specific cabins, Yacht Club suites or a family-sized room. Our Grandiosa itineraries page has the dates so you can compare.

FAQ: Your Real Questions, Answered

Is MSC Grandiosa good for first-time cruisers?

Mostly yes, if you like choice and a bit of bustle. It’s an 18-deck ship with 4,888 passengers per our data, plenty of bars, a spa and shops, and 7-night sailings that make a sensible first week. The catches are that reviewers describe confusing layouts and crowded indoor venues, and specialty dining and drinks cost extra. Budget for those before you judge the fare.

Where does MSC Grandiosa sail in November 2026?

Until mid-November she’s finishing one Mediterranean-to-Florida crossing, sold in overlapping slices from 3 to 20 nights, with boarding in Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia-Rome, Palma, Barcelona or Funchal. From November 14 she’s based at Port Canaveral, running 7-night Bahamas and Caribbean loops plus 14-night sailings. Ports of call for the crossing aren’t in our data, so confirm them with MSC.

Is November still hurricane season in the Caribbean?

Yes, officially until November 30, though activity drops off quickly. Sources describe mid-to-late November storms as rare but not unheard of, and by December 1 activity is very low. Watch the National Hurricane Center outlook before you go. The November 14, 21 and 28 departures sail inside the window, and the December departures start after it.

How much is a 7-night MSC Grandiosa cruise from Port Canaveral in November 2026?

One agency listing shows “from” fares of $319 per person for November 14, $329 for November 28 and $466 for November 21. Those are inside cabins, two sharing, with taxes and fees included. Other sites showed different numbers for the same sailings (November 14 from $309 to $398, and November 21 at $429 on one), so check the live price. Gratuities, drinks and excursions are extra.

What is MSC Grandiosa’s CDC score?

It’s 99 out of 100, from an inspection dated December 6, 2025, which is the day she arrived at Port Canaveral. The CDC’s passing mark is 86, so she’s well clear of it. That inspection is almost eleven months old, so check our CDC lookup for anything newer. A score is also a snapshot of one inspection, not a promise about your sailing week.

How much are gratuities on MSC Caribbean cruises in 2026?

Since May 11, 2026, MSC’s Caribbean and Alaska service charge is $17 per person per day in standard cabins and $23 in Yacht Club suites. Over seven nights that’s $119 and $161 per person. Children under two are exempt, and guests who prepaid before the increase kept the old rate.

The Bottom Line

The Grandiosa is a good fit if you want a big, busy ship with a low base fare and a week of reliable beach time. She’s a worse fit if you want quiet, a simple all-in price, or a ship that’s easy to find your way around. Her best autumn weeks are November 14 and 28, with Ocean Cay as the star. Do the maths on gratuities and drinks, because the fare is only the first line of the bill.
