What Enchanted Princess's Autumn Season Is Actually Like: Mediterranean First, Caribbean From December

Our database tags this season "Caribbean / Bahamas", which is a bit like labelling a mullet "business". There's a party in the back, but the front half is all Mediterranean. From mid-October to mid-November, Enchanted Princess (145,281 tons, 3,668 passengers, 1,346 crew) mostly sails from Rome and Athens. The bridge between the two halves is a one-way Atlantic crossing from Rome that arrives in Fort Lauderdale on December 3, the same day the Fort Lauderdale Caribbean run starts. Here's what each half is like.

Part one: Mediterranean, October to mid-November

Weather. Daylight shrinks from roughly 11.5–12 hours to about 10.5 by the end of October, so the sun clocks off early. Cruisebound's October port guide gives these ranges, and it says rain becomes more likely as the month goes on:

  • Croatia and Montenegro (Adriatic, so Dubrovnik and Kotor): 65–72°F, moderate rain risk.
  • Southern Italy (Naples and Amalfi): 68–76°F, low-to-moderate rain risk.
  • Rome / Civitavecchia: 65–74°F, moderate rain risk.

Those are October ranges, not forecasts. Here's the catch: on the October 31 sailing, Dubrovnik (Nov 6), Naples (Nov 9) and Rome (Nov 10) all fall in November, after the month that guide covers. Pack for cooler and damper than the numbers above, and don't be shocked when the weather has opinions.

Ports. The October 20 sailing is really two trips glued together, and the lists below come from schedule listings. The first leg, Rome to Athens, calls at Alghero (Sardinia), Genoa, Livorno (for Florence and Pisa), Valletta, Messina, Mykonos, Rhodes and Kusadasi, with 2 sea days. The second leg, Athens to Rome from October 31, calls at Santorini, Chania (Crete), Katakolon, Corfu, Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Naples, with 1 sea day. Katakolon and Kusadasi also appear on retailer listings for the Rome loops of the October 13 7-night and the November 10 23-night sailings.

About Dubrovnik: Cruisebound calls October "arguably Dubrovnik's best month for cruise visitors", with the Old City walls "no longer packed shoulder-to-shoulder". Your call, though, is November 6 (7:00 AM to 6:00 PM), so enjoy the thought and bring an umbrella anyway. The Port of Dubrovnik says it aims to limit cruise passengers to 8,000 a day in most cases, and that only 18 of its 243 cruise days a year go over that.

Santorini is the one to watch. Cruisebound says tender operations there can be affected by wind and swell, particularly later in the month, with disruptions more likely after mid-October. Your Santorini day on the October 31 leg is November 1, so treat that as a heads-up. The same guide says some seasonal businesses may reduce hours or close as the month goes on. For Naples, it says some seasonal boat services may run reduced schedules later in the month.

Pack: a light rain jacket, a sweater for evenings, and shoes you'd trust on wet limestone steps in Kotor and Dubrovnik (those stones have ended more vacation photos than anyone admits). Save the beach-only wardrobe for December.

The sailings. Dates and ports come from retailer and schedule listings, so confirm yours on Princess's site before booking.

Check before you book. Sellers' port lists don't always match, and ports can change. Check Princess's sailing page for your date, especially for the October 20 sailing, where listings differ on Genoa versus Portofino.

Part two: Caribbean, December

The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs June 1 to November 30. The peak is around September 10, and the NHC notes that activity "sometimes occurs before and after" those dates. Every Fort Lauderdale departure leaves after the official end. Still, watch the forecast. Dates and ports below come from retailer listings, and sellers' port lists differ in places, so confirm your sailing on Princess's site.

Pricing. December 17 is a holiday sailing. One retailer listed it at $1,149 per person for an inside cabin and $1,199 for a balcony. Others quoted from roughly $1,135–$1,160. For December 27, one retailer listed $999 per person for an inside cabin and $1,699 for a balcony. These are double-occupancy snapshots with taxes and fees included, so they'll move. For the 14-night sailing, sellers' quotes are far apart, so compare before you trust any single number.

Pack: swimwear, sunscreen, and a light layer for air-conditioned dining rooms and the odd passing shower. If you're weighing your own bottle of wine, read our bring-alcohol guide first.

Cleanliness. The ship's latest CDC Vessel Sanitation Program score on our books is 93 out of 100, from the January 6, 2026 inspection. Satisfactory is 86 or higher. You can compare other ships in our CDC inspection lookup.
