What Celebrity Silhouette's Autumn Caribbean Season Is Actually Like
Between October 30 and the end of January, Celebrity Silhouette runs a tidy two-step out of Fort Lauderdale. There are eight 8-night departures and six 6-night departures, mostly alternating like a very polite dance. Our database doesn't record the port lists for these sailings. What follows comes from third-party schedule listings, so confirm the exact calls for your date with Celebrity before you book anything non-refundable.
Which sailing is which
| Length | Departures | Listed ports (per CruiseWeb) |
|---|---|---|
| 8 nights | Oct 30 and Nov 7, then every other week from Nov 21 through Jan 30 | Oranjestad (Aruba), Willemstad (Curaçao), Kralendijk (Bonaire) |
| 6 nights | Nov 15, then every other week through Jan 24 | Varies by date. Nov 15: Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Bimini. Nov 29: Cozumel, Roatán and Costa Maya. Dec 27: Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Bimini. Jan 24: Cozumel, Costa Maya and Bimini. |
The 6-night route changes from date to date, so check your exact sailing. CruiseWeb lists port lists for Nov 15, Nov 29, Dec 27 and Jan 24 only. Port lists for the Dec 13 and Jan 10 departures aren't published there, so check Celebrity's own site for those two.
Weather and sea conditions
Atlantic hurricane season officially ends November 30. The first four departures (Oct 30, Nov 7, Nov 15, Nov 21) sail inside it, and the Nov 29 departure leaves the day before it ends. Cruisebound says tropical activity drops to very low levels by December 1, though off-season storms are rare, not impossible. The ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao) sit well south of the main storm track, so the 8-night route is the lower-drama bet. For a Western Caribbean 6-night in mid-November, keep your travel insurance paperwork handy and your expectations flexible.
December highs run roughly the upper 70s to mid-80s °F, with passing cold fronts and trade winds that can make seas choppy. Expect brief showers in November rather than a washout.
What the ports are worth
- Aruba: Beach day, done. Eagle Beach and Palm Beach are the usual picks.
- Curaçao: Willemstad's pastel waterfront is the draw, and it's walkable from the ship.
- Bonaire: The snorkelling and diving island, and the quietest of the three.
- Cozumel and Grand Cayman: Reef and beach classics.
- Roatán and Costa Maya: More laid-back and more "beach bar, hammock, regret nothing."
Who should pick what
The 8-night suits anyone who wants three distinct islands and doesn't mind sea days. CruiseWeb lists Willemstad as day 5 and Kralendijk as day 6, so expect a proper lounge-around stretch on the way south. The 6-night suits first-timers and long-weekend-plus escapes. Advertised "from" fares per person, taxes and fees included, were $584 for the Mexico and Honduras version and $986 for the 8-night ABC cruise. Those are starting prices, not guarantees for your date.
Holiday crowding and pricing
Early November through mid-December is the shoulder window, and it's where the better value tends to hide. Three sailings are the exception:
- Nov 21–29 (8 nights) covers Thanksgiving, which falls on November 26.
- Dec 19–27 (8 nights) includes Christmas Day.
- Dec 27–Jan 2 (6 nights) rings in New Year's aboard.
Expect more families and higher fares on those three. CruiseWeb's advertised "from" fare for the Dec 27 holiday sailing is $1,643 per person, taxes and fees included.
What to pack
Think breathable layers, a light rain jacket for those passing showers, reef-safe sunscreen, water shoes for rocky snorkel entries, and a sweater for the aggressively air-conditioned theatre. A little formalwear covers the evenings. Check our guide to bringing alcohol on board before you pack the "emergency" rum.
