The Tea
Mobile, Alabama's cruise terminal is the smallest major cruise port in the US, and it embraces that identity fully. One terminal, one cruise line (Carnival), and a whole lot of Southern hospitality. The port is right downtown, walking distance to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.
At $10/day for parking and $12-18 Uber from the airport, Mobile might be the cheapest cruise port in America. The city itself is underrated — beautiful antebellum architecture, excellent Gulf seafood, and the original Mardi Gras (yes, Mobile had it before New Orleans). Pre-cruise, there's plenty to do.
The tea: Mobile is the cruise port for people who don't want the hassle. No traffic nightmares, no $40 parking, no standing in line for two hours. It's one ship, a handful of itineraries, and a stress-free experience that makes the mega-ports feel absurd by comparison.
