What Carnival Paradise's Autumn Bahamas and Western Caribbean Season Is Actually Like
Meet Paradise: a 1998-built Fantasy-class ship, refurbished in 2018, carrying 2,052 passengers at 70,367 tons and sailing out of Tampa all season. She doesn't have the roller coaster of the newer ships, and she isn't pretending to. What she does have is short, cheap, no-fuss itineraries and a CDC Vessel Sanitation score of 99 from her July 30, 2026 inspection. (Yes, a 99. The old girl passed with flying colors.) You can check that yourself on our CDC inspection lookup. The ship page has the rest of her profile.
The weather, honestly
Atlantic hurricane season officially runs June 1 to November 30 (NOAA). Our window straddles the tail end. Late October and November are not the peak, but an itinerary swap for a storm is still possible, so read your cruise contract and don't skip travel insurance. Nobody ever wished they'd skipped it while watching a storm reroute their trip. December is outside the season, but it brings cold fronts, which can mean choppier Gulf crossings and a chilly sail-away.
Tampa itself cools quickly. WeatherSpark averages put November highs falling from about 81°F to 76°F and lows from 63°F to 58°F. December highs run from about 76°F to 71°F, with lows from 58°F to 53°F. So you'll board in "light jacket" weather and spend your port days in a much warmer climate. Pack for both, and accept that your suitcase will look confused.
Which sailing for whom
Our database doesn't hold port lists for the 4- and 5-night sailings. The details below come from iCruise's schedule listings, plus Carnival's own itinerary page for the 4-night Cozumel hours. They are not confirmed sailing by sailing, so treat Carnival's booking page as the final word.
| Length | Sailings in our data | Ports (see note) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 nights | 7 (Nov 1 – Dec 26) | Mostly Cozumel only. Dec 26 is listed as Celebration Key only. | First-timers, a long-weekend test run |
| 5 nights | 5 (Nov 23 – Dec 21) | Bahamas: Celebration Key and Nassau. Western Caribbean: Mahogany Bay or Georgetown, plus Cozumel. | Holiday-week trips, with more than one port |
| 6 nights | 2 (Oct 26, Nov 9) | Celebration Key, Princess Cays, Nassau (our data) | Beach-and-Bahamas people who want the most port time |
One caution on the 6-night: iCruise and Cruise Timetables both list Nov 9 with Half Moon Cay where our data has Princess Cays. Confirm before you book that one, because "which island" is a fairly important detail.
What the ports are worth
- Celebration Key: Carnival's Grand Bahama destination, opened in 2025. It has a white-sand beach, themed lagoon areas and cabanas. It's a beach day by design, so go for the sand, not for culture. Nobody's booking this one for the museums.
- Nassau: Loud, busy and very much a tourist magnet, though the cruise-terminal area is easy to get around. A half day is plenty, so grab your photo, your souvenir and your exit.
- Princess Cays (Eleuthera): The "lie down and do nothing" port, with kayaking and snorkeling for the overachievers. It's quieter than Nassau, which is a low bar but a pleasant one.
- Cozumel: On Carnival's 4-night Tampa itinerary, the ship is in port from 8:00 to 16:00, and the Nov 15 and Nov 19 sailings follow that same schedule (Cozumel on Nov 17 and Nov 21, per Cruise Timetables). That's one full day, eight hours and not a minute more, so pick a beach club or a snorkel trip rather than trying to do everything. Be back on board before the ship leaves without you.
Prices and crowds
This is shoulder season, and the fares show it. iCruise's "from" prices (per person, interior, double occupancy, taxes included) when we checked: a 4-night on Nov 15 from $187, and a 5-night Bahamas on Dec 7 from $217. Holiday weeks cost more, because of course they do. The Thanksgiving-week 5-night Bahamas (Nov 23) starts at $328. The 5-night Western Caribbean on Dec 21 starts at $539 and the 4-night on Dec 26 at $496. Fares move daily, so check before you decide.
What to pack
- Swimwear, a cover-up and reef-friendly sunscreen for the port days.
- A light jacket or sweater for Tampa sail-away, December evenings and windy decks.
- A compact rain jacket for passing showers.
- Water shoes for rocky entries at beach stops.
Paradise offers interior, ocean view and balcony cabins, so the one you pick matters. Our cabin size guide will help you choose.
