The Tea

Great Stirrup Cay is Norwegian Cruise Line's private island, and it recently got a major upgrade with the addition of luxury villa experiences. The main beach area is solid — clean sand, decent food, and a bar that pours generously.

The island offers a mix of free activities (beach, snorkeling, beach volleyball) and paid upgrades (cabanas, parasailing, kayak tours). It strikes a reasonable balance between inclusive and upsell, without being as aggressive about it as CocoCay.

The tea: Great Stirrup Cay is the middle child of private islands — not as flashy as CocoCay, not as charming as Castaway Cay, not as natural as Half Moon Cay. It's perfectly fine, which is both its strength (no complaints) and weakness (no stories). Your kids will have fun. You'll have a nice time. Nobody will write a blog post about it.
