The Tea
Aruba is the "One Happy Island" — and it's actually not lying. The consistent sunshine (one of the driest Caribbean islands), beautiful Eagle Beach, and overall safety make it one of the most reliable ports of call. The island is a Level 1 travel advisory, which basically means "you're fine."
The cruise port in Oranjestad is walkable to the main shopping district, and the Renaissance Resort's private island (with flamingos!) is accessible if you buy a day pass. The downtown area is clean, colorful, and genuinely pleasant — not the usual cruise port strip mall experience.
The truth about Aruba: it's the safest bet in the Caribbean, but it's not the cheapest. Taxi prices are fixed but not cheap ($10-25 to the main beaches), and restaurant prices reflect the island's reliance on tourism. Still, you're getting what you pay for — reliable weather, genuine safety, and a port day that almost never disappoints.
