The Tea
Grand Turk is Carnival's purpose-built paradise — a cruise center with a pool, Margaritaville, and a beach that actually delivers on the "turquoise water" promise. The port compound is essentially a resort complex, and it works because there's not much else on the island to compete with.
Outside the cruise center, Grand Turk is a tiny, sleepy island with a population of about 4,000. The diving and snorkeling are exceptional (the wall drop-off is right offshore), and the beaches are genuinely beautiful. There's no hustle, no aggressive vendors — just a small island doing its best with a big cruise ship in the harbor.
The honest take: Grand Turk is the best version of a "cruise line port" — it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. You're here for the beach, the water, and the Margaritaville drink-inclusive pass ($44). It's not a cultural destination, and that's okay.
