The Tea
Jacksonville's JAXPORT Cruise Terminal is the scrappy underdog of the Florida cruise scene. With one terminal and mostly Carnival sailings, it doesn't get the hype of the South Florida ports. But that's exactly why it works: $10/day parking, short security lines, and a stress-free embarkation that feels almost too easy.
The port is about 20 minutes from downtown Jacksonville and the beaches, but there's not much to do in the immediate terminal area. The value proposition, though, is hard to beat — cheaper cruises, cheaper parking, cheaper hotels than anywhere in South Florida.
What the cruise lines won't advertise: Jacksonville is where budget-conscious Florida cruisers go when they've done the math. The itineraries are similar (Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean), but the total trip cost — including parking and pre-cruise hotels — can be $500+ less than sailing from Miami for the same ship.
