Utopia of the Seas showed up in 2024 as Royal Caribbean's newest Oasis-class behemoth — 236,857 tons, 5,668 passengers, 18 decks, the whole "floating city" routine out of Port Canaveral — and the inspection paperwork mostly backs up the hype. A 100 on its very first CDC inspection in July 2025 is about as clean a debut as a ship gets, and even the follow-up score of 97 this January is comfortably passing (the line is 86) and still sits above the fleet's latest-score average of 96.7 and right at the median of 98. Two inspections is a thin sample size for a ship this new, so don't read too much into it, but "declining" from 100 to 97 is still the honest word for the trend, even if the destination is nowhere near alarming.

To be clear about what we don't know: outbreak data for this ship is currently unreachable on our end, so we're not going to pretend Utopia has some spotless viral-illness record — we simply can't check it right now, and neither should you assume the worst. What we can vouch for is the hardware and the paper trail: a brand-new hull off the Chantiers de l'Atlantique line, refurbished the same year it debuted a real refresh, not a decade-later patch job, and two inspections that both cleared the bar with room to spare. For a ship carrying nearly 6,000 guests and pushing 2,300 crew, that's a genuinely tidy showing.

Who it's for: mega-ship maximalists who want the newest toy in the Royal Caribbean fleet, families who like their inspection scores boringly high, and anyone sailing out of Port Canaveral who wants zero surprises on the health-and-safety front. Who should skip it: anyone who still gets clammy at the sight of a "declining" trend line even when the floor is a 97, and cruisers who specifically want a long inspection history to pore over — this ship simply hasn't been afloat long enough to build one yet.
